Welcome to our course on Grief versus Depression.

From Emily Dickinson to C.S. Lewis, we have searched to understand and support individuals who are grieving for centuries. Then with our increased understanding of mental health and our recognition of various diagnoses and interventions, we have grown in our understanding of the differences in symptoms and disorders. However, grief and depression share many symptoms and can easily be confused by the inexperienced practitioner. Others may wish to help the client be free from the emotional pain of loss through medication. This course explores these differences and the importance of knowing what we are dealing with to respond in the most effective manner.

Through video lecture, this course will explore the differences and similarities between grief and depression. Understanding these differences drives our choice of interventions. Finally, we will discuss the methods each requires to effectively support the client. After the lecture, a short quiz will be taken to validate understanding of the topic. A certificate will be awarded following successful completion of the course.

Outcomes
