Welcome to our course on Trauma-Informed Practice. We have heard this term quite a bit these past few years, however it is often unclear how this looks in helping professions. With the past few years navigating the collective trauma as a nation with the Covid-19 pandemic, helping professionals are at a high risk of secondary trauma. This course will explore trauma-informed framework and how to apply it to your organizations and supervisory practices. While we have come a long way in trauma-informed work with our clients, we struggle as a field to put it in practice with our colleagues, staff, and agencies.
Through video lecture, this course will explore the meaning of trauma-informed practice and how this strategy impacts helping professionals, supervisors and organizations. We will examine the definition of trauma and the various types of trauma that people endure. Lastly, we will discuss the different ways an agency and/or staff can be trauma-informed and practical ways to support helping professionals. Following to the lecture, a short quiz will be taken to validate understanding of the topic. A certificate will be awarded following successful completion of the course.
