The American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria is an integrated tool for assessing individuals in a holistic and culturally-mindful manner. The ASAM criteria utilizes a six-dimensional approach to rating severity and determining level of care recommendations for individuals with co-occurring disorders. This common language helps clinicians to better understand personalized nuances to care and serves as the groundwork for building meaningful treatment plans.

Outcomes
Participants will be able to:

Identify the core components of an integrated clinical assessment

Identify the core diagnostic criteria for behavioral health disorders including specifiers (severity, remission, and controlled setting)

Identify the dimensions of an ASAM assessment and differentiate between the 4 severity ratings along each dimension

Understand the correlation between the dimension scoring and levels of care
