Michael Burson, LICSW

Michael is excited to share his personal and professional experiences with the group. Michael is originally from 1980's Evanston/Chicago Illinois where he developed a personal understanding of the challenges facing people of color in urban environments. Michael attended the Colorado College to study psychology and realized that his beliefs and interests were more in line with social work values and ethics. Michael received his MSW from the University of Denver. While living in Colorado with his family Michael worked in various settings including as a grief counselor for Judi's House, a Family Support Coordinator for Donor Alliance and a social worker at Children’s Hospital Colorado Clinic for children and young adults living with HIV. Michael transitioned to management at Arapahoe House in the field of substance use disorder treatment before moving to MN where he now works at the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND as a senior social worker. Michael found his passion in DE&I work and now serves as the Chair of the Roger Maris Cancer Center Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team as well as a member of the Sanford Health Enterprise DE&I Advisory Committee. Michael also sits on the National Association of Oncology Social Workers DE&I Advisory Committee.
