This presentation explores what conflict is and why does it exist. The presenter will also discuss our role in conflicts and strategies to employ when dealing with conflict in our lives. The role of communication styles in our approach to conflict will also be explored as it is identified as the foundation to our conflict resolution approaches.


Outcomes
Participants will be able to:

Understand why conflict exists and how it impacts our lives

Identify various roles people assume when faced with conflict

Explore strategies to employ to resolve conflict while maintaining relationships

Emily Gard, LCSW
Ambulatory Clinic Director
Sanford Health

Emily Gard is a master’s prepared social worker and has been in practice for 13 years. She is currently employed by Sanford Health as an Ambulatory Clinic Director. She provides clinical oversight to the integrated health teams and is passionate about providing behavioral health services in the primary care setting. Emily was selected as the Clinical Employee of the Year in 2017 for her work as an Integrated Health Therapist. She is a BeHeard trainer and enjoys teaching! Emily is from Fargo, ND and graduated from Concordia College. She attended graduate school at the University of North Dakota. In her free time, she enjoys raising her five children, listening to podcasts, and going to the lake with her family.
