Welcome to our course on Articulating the Role of Social Work.

Over 100 years as a profession, and yet the important roles of social work are often misunderstood and underestimated. We will explore how the confusion about social work roles might impact our clients and potentially their outcomes. Research has revealed some reasons behind this confusion and identified strategies to improve public awareness and educate other disciplines. Defining the roles we play, and the knowledge and skills we offer, will better serve our clients and others that serve them.

We will discuss how undefined roles might impact client outcomes and our abilities to intervene, and strategies toward improved understanding. Videos will guide you through the information and intermittent quizzes will afford you the opportunity to verify your understanding of the material.
